About How Long Should it Take to Get a New Home Based Business to a Profitable Level?

Now, this reminds me of the chicken and the egg and which comes first. It can be answered in many ways, depending on your perspective. Now, first of all, let me say the answer is definitely depends. It definitely depends on you. What are you willing to do in order to get your business profitable? How much time are you going to work, and work hard.I am not saying time to set up your office, time to create a plan, time to set up presentations, but how long will you work hard in doing activities to make you money? Some of the items I mentioned, may be important, but has no bearing on getting you to profitability. Now, it also depends on how much are you paying to get started in the business? How much "inventory" or un-needed product are you getting? How are you marketing your business? What are you doing to advertise? Are you targeting your customers or are you finding dog doo doo in your back yard and are you throwing it at a wall? Now, a lot of home businesses will tell you to talk to all your friends and family. Yes, they may be initially supportive and buy products, but often they will do that for a short period of time. Not everyone that you know wants to be or has the desire to build a business. This does not work and has its issues. Then you will talk to companies and sure, let them sell you fresh leads of people. Now, maybe they are fresh to you but the leads are sold and resold and they will do this as often as they can to make $2-10 a lead on them. This is wasting money on the lottery ticket mentality people and will be so tired of hearing the next business plan that they run with their tails between their legs. Now, if you truly want to hit profitability faster, you must learn how to market. Their are many people that have built businesses. Now, they will teach you to find other people that will start a business with you. Many companies have lost the true focus. That is to move product for the company. Most companies pay more for customer purchases. What you can do is get customers hooked and a happy customer is more open to building a business so that they can get the products they want at a reduced cost. This is where I tell people, if you are buying products you do not have a need for, and you are buying lots of product every month, you have a larger chance that you will never be profitable. Remember, you do get business credits from the government, so make sure you get with your accountant. Also, education is something you can deduct, so make sure you invest in yourself. The government can not take that back from you!
