Let's start with a question: You know what a lead is, right, or do you?Mention the word 'lead' and most network marketers think of an 'opportunity seeker' - someone who has expressed an interest at some time in earning extra income, and knowingly or not, their contact details have ended up on a list hired out by a list broker. Opportunity seeker or not, you still have absolutely NO IDEA whether this person will be interested in what you have to offer, without hiring the list and asking.And the net result? Rejection in most cases and increased levels of frustration.If you've tried this approach you know what we mean. This approach rarely meets with the levels of success anticipated, and this is nothing more than cold calling, like the telephone canvassers who call you in the evening offering double-glazing, debt advice and such like.The truth is, you're not interested in these people and their offers, so why believe 'opportunity seekers' would be interested in you and what you have to offer? They don't know you or your opportunity and they don't care either.So, how long do you think anyone can keep up this type of cold-calling approach and keep positive? And yet, most network marketers believe this is what they have to put up with to keep presenting their opportunity to a constant flow of prospects.So, how do YOU become part of the lead generation process?Think of the internet as a giant library of information. When you want to answer a problem, you go to a search engine and type in your query. When you review the results, you select the result which most closely matches your inquiry.As this applies to network marketing, you first need to know what your target audience is looking for, then, using the enormous scope and reach of the internet to interact with your target audience, you provide them with valuable answers to their queries in the form of information.In this way, you become known and someone who 'helps' instead of 'sells.' By utilising this approach, your prospects initiate contact with you. In fact, they are the ones chasing you down, in most cases for free!And whilst this may sound technical and complicated, and beyond most folks, it's not. With the advances in social media online, it's quite possible for someone who might describe themselves as technically challenged, to create their own advertising and marketing campaigns. And the thing is, thousands have been quietly using this approach with great success already, and so can you.Just think, most distributors have only been shown one way of building their MLM business, and as a result have a very narrow focus: to generate ever more leads to pitch their biz opp to using the 'chase them down' approach...But by providing valuable information first, your audience finds you first, making you stand out from the crowd. Your audience becomes genuinely interested in what you have to say because you put their needs above your own. They respect your opinion and value your advice. They volunteer their contact information and expect to hear from you, because they are genuinely interested in what you have to offer. Wow!Who are you naturally drawn to when searching for any kind of information online? People shouting about how wonderful their products are, or the ones quietly helping you solve your problems?In addition, by becoming a solutions provider, you are not limited to any one opportunity or any one product, only what your marketplace wants. Think of the possibilities!Well, this sounds all well and good, but what if you need money right now?We hear this all the time. You already know it takes time to build a business. You must factor in a growth curve especially if you recognise the need to learn new skills. Avoid ANYONE or anything that tells you different.
