How Long Do the Extreme "Ups and Downs" Last When You Start a Home Business?

This was a great question that was asked to me. When I am talking to many network marketers, many distributors talk about the ups and the downs. The talk about having a good month, where they sponsor one or two people, and then in about 2 months, it is a down month were half of the people have left their business or may not be working as hard as they would like.Now, when you focus your mind on finding people to work with you in the business and you want those people to do the same, you have lost focus on what can smooth out the journey for you. I talk to people a lot about this, and if you have read another article of mine, you will think, here he goes again. Let me ask you the question, where do you make your money, is it by representatives signing up and getting paid on that for a month, or is it by sincere customers buying products? Of course, it is the customers. The only reason you make a dime on the sign up, is because many companies place the products in the start-up kits. They get it once and then they do not really want to keep buying the products. This is why I say you need to have a passion for the product. Now, if you are an Avon, Mary Kay, Nuskin, or BeautiControl rep and you need personal care products, you do not go to your local pharmacy and buy the products there because they are cheaper. If you feel the products are better and have more value, you better re-evaluate your business. Why would you promote something you do not believe in?But it is just not those few companies, no matter what company you are with, if it is travel, telecommunications or nutritional, you better believe in it with an incredible belief and not use anything else. If you just got in to the business because someone said you could make money, you better get out of it or you will probably only lose money.Now, to prevent the ups and downs, you need to build a solid customer base. Pursue adding 4 or 5 customers a week that will fall in love with the products you love. Now, then you can take and ask your customers, if you could help them get their products cheaper, would they want to know more. Some will and some won't! Does it matter? No, because you are not losing revenue. Again, never say you can make millions, keep it real and yes over time they could, but if they don't you are not misleading them. The more customers you have will remove most of the ups and downs.You do need to know how to target your market and there are ways to market and ways not to market. Learn from people who understand what works and what does not.
