Do You Want to Be the Expert?

When you start your MLM career, being an expert is not an option. You know you need to get your prospects in touch with others in the company. But what about after you have some experience and you actually do know the answers to many of your prospect's questions?You still do not want to answer their questions yourself! You want to:
Protect yourself and the company from liability
Teach duplicatable methods
Create third party validationWhen someone asks what results they might expect from a product, be very careful not to make any illegal claims. In the health and wellness industry, you must not claim that your product can prevent or cure any disease or specific condition. You can give personal testimonials or repeat ones you have heard on team conference calls as long as the wording is legal. Your upline should be able to help with this. Or just get them on a 3-way call with someone who has a great testimonial. Just remember to not promise anything except your company's official guarantee.When someone asks about potential income, always point them to company-provided websites or videos, or get them on a 3-way call with a successful upline person. If you are successful you can tell them your pin level and let them figure out what that means when the compensation plan is explained to them. Never make promises to anyone regarding the amount of income they can earn, and never show anyone your commission check! This is illegal and can result in action against you and possibly against your company.When someone asks about product ingredients, always point them to the company website and if that does not answer their question, submit the question to the company for an answer. Never, ever make anything up! If they ask about interactions with other things they are taking, always submit that question to the company or tell them to ask their medical doctor. Even when the company has medical doctors on staff, they will generally defer to the person's own physician to avoid any possible liability claims.Remember that your new team members will not know the answers. If you answer all of a prospect's questions, they will think that if they join your team they need to know all of the answers too. A truly duplicatable method is one that even the newest person can follow. If you send people to websites and get them on 3-way calls with other people, that is something they will know they can duplicate.Your prospect has 3 questions:
Can I do this
Will I make any money
Will you help meIf you answer too many questions yourself, they will think they can't do that themselves. When you show them all of the resources available to answer questions, you validate that they will get plenty of help.Third party validation is important because people will be more likely to believe things they have heard from multiple sources. So if at all possible, get your prospect on a 3-way call with another member of your team at some point to answer their questions, go over the compensation plan, and give a testimonial.Fight the urge to be the expert, and teach people to use the resources available. Your whole team will benefit!
