Can a Bear Cub Mentor You in MLM?

Someone asked me a great question last week. When she found out that I had only about 2 years of experience in MLM, she wanted to know "why are you qualified to mentor me?" An image immediately popped into my head. Rather than try to describe it, go to YouTube and search for "The Bear" by Jean Jacques Annaud. When you watch this you'll get the idea. I might be a cub in MLM but I have a great team backing me up. What makes a great mentoring team?Two things:Experience in the industry
A mix of all 4 personality typesThe old saying "there is no substitute for experience" is really true. You don't want to take advice from someone unless they have already achieved what you want! A few weeks ago, I was attending a chamber mixer and some guy who has never even been in MLM started trying to give me advice (without knowing my experience level either!) His advice was totally opposite to what my mentors teach. He was also trying to sell me a $300 advertisement space in a magazine, which is not really appropriate for my business.I choose to be mentored by people who have 20-30 years of success in MLM and are working from home full-time. They truly have what I desire - complete time and financial freedom.Once you understand the personality types, you want to work with all types on your team because they each have different strengths. When I want to do a 3-way call to introduce someone I am mentoring to a more experienced coach, I determine the coach I want by the personality type of the person being mentored as well as the topic we need to discuss. Making the best match ensures good communication and a good outcome.When it comes to mentoring for myself, I would never want to be exclusively mentored by just one person. Since I am a green, another green might not be the best person to spot my self development needs. We usually need someone with a different perspective to help us grow. But when it comes to crunching numbers, like understanding a compensation plan, greens excel. And another green would understand why certain marketing methods are uncomfortable for me and could suggest solutions. But, when I am trying to learn a new technical skill I will not always work with a green. They may know very well how to do what I need, but they tend to be impatient.I am sure at some time you have talked to someone you knew had the knowledge to help you, but the two of you just didn't "click." That is why it is so important to have a whole group of people you can call on. Someone always has the answer!

I spent many hard earned dollars trying to find a way to earn extra income in a home based business. I bought or invested in many at home possibilities and on-line opportunities. None of them panned out in the least. Maybe I am not a good, independent, home based business person, or a good salesperson. Or maybe my focus was on the wrong thing - - making money. Perhaps I had bad karma.I don't know what the reason was, but home based business success eluded me. So I decided I needed to make a philosophical change. Instead of focusing on what my business could do for me, I made a shift to what can my business do for everybody else? Instead of helping just ourselves, let's help others.Network marketing your home based business is all about connecting. In a broad overview, it means telling people you know, your network of friends, relatives and associates, about a product or service you're trying to sell. And you should try to steadily grow your network of associates and friends as much as possible to expand your potential client base. The really big, successful, home network marketers have a huge network that they always manage to keep growing. Interestingly, they seem to focus it around other network marketers.Well, my idea is a little different. What happens if you don't want the focus of your network to be other network marketers? Well, not unless they want to help other people who need support. Where there is big need, there are people who want to help - - and usually, lots of people. To me, that means there is a network of friends, family, co-workers or concerned, community people who want to make a difference. What a wonderful group of people! What a network! Wouldn't it be great to to have those type of people in your home based business network and in your downstream?Our local Women's Center, which also included the Rape Crisis Center, was always hurting for funds. Every year it was a fight to have enough to stay afloat, much less expand any services. I know there were plenty of supportive people within the community, but their contributions were like one time deals. With the MLM opportunities out there now, these local supporters could grow a strong network of residual income for their special organizations. Their help would continue for year after year and continue to grow. Do you know of any organizations that wouldn't like that? They would not only have more revenue to keep operating, but would also be able to expand their programs. How cool is that?As for individuals, like wounded veterans or police-people or fire-people, the same would be true. These people's family, friends, supporters could finally have a substantial, residual building way to help these local heros. There would be a realistic way to try and pay back their sacrifices for us. How? If there are easy, low cost, home based opportunities that use MLM to do the lion's share of the work, then what a deal. Why not utilize those home based businesses in a new way? Let's spread the success around and help our communities and heros at the same time.Change your karma. Generate new success in your home based business. Share the dream!

Now, let me first start out by saying that Life Path Pro is a network marketing opportunity to promote Life Path Unlimited. Now, I am not in Life Path and I am not a customer of their products either. The product is movies and motivational events to help you grow personally and in business. It is a life enrichment product.The Good The fact of the matter is, more people will want to learn and grow personally and in their careers. The events are held in some very exotic places. The company was established in 2006. It is also in more than 30 countries. Now, a lot of people read and are trying to improve themselves.The BadNow, this is a very costly product. Sure, the first part is the movie, but, after you get that and you are learning to improve areas of your life, then the next level is by going to events. Not only do you pay for the training, but you also have to pay for travel, time off of your job, Now, this is all built around how you can better yourself. Now, the area of greatest concern is that they want you to start to sell the product so you can earn an income. Just by going through the motions to get to the point you can market the business can be a downfall. Now, what happens if you do not take the training? How can you sell something, even you would not use? Now, the other part of this is that in order for you to complete the training program, you will have a large capital expense. and can your business investment be overcome.The ConclusionNow, how many times have you taken training and with in a few months, you do not remember what you took? A lot of the motivation is to get you to break through roadblocks in your life and career, and they get you to do tasks to push you and give yourself time for reflection. Then I get to the point of evaluating this company as a business and this is where in my mind I struggle. They do not show you how to build a business through marketing techniques and how to use the tools. They get you to use psychology to get people pumped up. Then, if I had to say who is your target market and it would be those that are struggling in their own businesses and people who make New Years Resolutions. The methods are like pep rallies and you lose motivation quickly without getting recharged. Now, if you want to help people in business, you better be known for how you help them with a step by step instructions, not just the feel good stuff. Now, the choice is yours, but be careful and really think through who you will sell this to and can afford it. If they can not afford it, you will not get paid.

Will Collecting License Tag Information Really Be Lucrative?

There are a couple of MLM companies based on having people collect and enter information on license plate numbers they see around town. You enter the tag number and where you saw it into a data base. Supposedly, this information will be sold to law enforcement agencies to help track down criminals.If you are a fan of and of the CSI or NCIS shows, you probably know that nearly every major intersection in the US has a traffic camera. Toll booths also have them. If you have watched the reality TV shows about police chases, you probably know that many (maybe all?) police officers and state troopers have cameras mounted to their dashboard. I saw a show a few years ago where a trooper was shot by a man he had pulled over. The camera recorded the incident and the criminal was later apprehended.With all of this information available to them for free, why would law enforcement agencies pay a data collection company especially when the data may not even be timely? As far as I know there is no time limit for how quickly members must enter the data into the system.I always recommend that people research an opportunity thoroughly before joining and one site that is good to check is mlmwatchdog.com. They have some interesting information on these companies. They also posted a funny idea for making tons of money. Anyone can buy a dashboard camera for around $2800 so they suggested you could automate the data collection and enter lots of license plate numbers! I believe each member is limited though as to how many they can enter. Maybe you could have multiple positions?If you are considering joining one of these companies, I would also ask someone in law enforcement if they think the idea has any merit. Remember that in a multi-level structure, multiple people would get paid for each data entry.What I really find disturbing is the way these opportunities are marketed. They are tugging at people's heartstrings by telling them that this system will help with Amber Alerts, to catch kidnappers of children. I believe that someone who kidnaps a child must be aware that they are a top priority for the police and FBI. Some might not be very bright, but I would assume most of them do not stay in one place very long and might even change vehicles.It seems that timely information is crucial in these cases. The members of these MLM companies type license tag numbers into the database at their convenience. If they are just trying to make money by collecting the information will they care if it is timely? Since they are probably collecting this information while away from their home, unless they are carrying a device with internet access they would almost never enter the data the instant they saw the vehicle. Is data that is hours or even days old useful to law enforcement?It will be interesting to see if these companies survive. I have my doubts.

I had the great privilege yesterday to see a tom turkey showing off for a hen. His head was bright blue, and his tail feathers were all fanned out. The hen was walking toward him, so she must have been impressed! He was indeed a handsome guy.Do you believe these thoughts were in his head?

I doubt it! Of course I can't get inside the head of a turkey, but I think there was one thing on his mind: I'm gonna get lucky!Animals don't doubt themselves. They go after what they want. Sometimes they have to fight for it, but they never stop to question whether or not they should go for it. So why do we?They don't question their methods either. I have one cat who drinks from the bowl and another who sticks her paw in the water and licks it off. Someone told me their cat will only drink from the dog's bowl. Another lady told me her cat likes water fresh from the faucet. She had a face full of cleanser and was trying to wash it off, and the cat kept interfering! Do they care if we laugh at their antics? No! So why do we let criticism bother us so much?One of my mentors, Art Jonak, tells new distributors something like this: "You will not succeed because of me nor fail because of me. Your success is inside of YOU." Of course new distributors need help. They need training about people, and training about the industry. But you cannot teach someone to be motivated and self-confident. You can teach them methods to develop motivation and self-confidence but they must do the work themselves.To make it in MLM, you need to be absolutely driven. You need to be focused. Your sponsor cannot do that for you, even if they call you every hour!People will criticise you for getting into MLM. Often our relatives and friends are the worst critics. You need to have a thick skin when it comes to these people. Don't give up on your dreams because someone else can't see the vision you do!Some people, like my husband, always seem to move forward with confidence and never seem to question their intentions or worry much about criticism.
