Mistakes are part of any learning curve, including network marketing. If you aren't making any, you aren't making any money, either.However, not all mistakes are equal. Misspelling a word in an email doesn't quite have the same impact as exaggerating the truth. Here are nine mistakes that go into the "you MUST avoid" category.1. Not being yourself. This is like some kind of disease for many distributors. People whom you have known for years will immediately recognize it when you act and talk like someone else. If you are not yet an expert, don't pretend to be one.2. Getting too emotionally involved. When someone tells you "no," it's not personal. Whether they are someone you go to church with or someone you only know on the Internet, stay friends.3. Never calling your upline. If you don't call them, why should you expect your downline call you? It's a responsibility they took on when they sponsored you. Use them, but don't abuse them.4. Begging people to join. If your opportunity really is of value, all you should need to do is explain how it can help someone with THEIR life. If someone joins you because you begged them enough, they won't produce anything but frustration anyway.5. Telling prospects that "this is not MLM or network marketing." If you are embarrassed at being involved with network marketing, go do something else.6. Explaining the business on the phone. The purpose of the phone is only to INVITE the prospect to read, watch, or listen to something that will explain the business way better than you can.7. Misleading your friends into an opportunity meeting. You sponsor using CONFIDENCE, not deceit.8. Telling everyone what your current income is. Don't answer this question. Don't lie, but don't answer it. Whatever you say, they will spin to a negative. If it's too high, they will say "then it's too late to get in," and if it's too low, they will say, "that's not enough for me."9. (And biggest of all) Building someone else's list. The norm in this industry is to sign you up, give you a company replicated website, and have you promote it. Everyone says the money is in the list, and they are correct.
